County changes pay for labor attorney

The commissioners have changed the way the county does business with its labor law attorney.

At the Aug. 25 meeting, the commissioners voted to pay attorney Scott Blissman, of Reed Smith LLP, $45,000 a year in monthly increments of $3,750 starting Jan. 1, 2011 and running through Dec. 31, 2011.
The fees for the labor attorney’s services have been paid on an as-needed basis until the change.
When questioned about the change in payment arrangements, Commissioner Chair MaryAnn Warren answered, “This is how we do it now.”
Director of Assessments and Chief Assessor Rick Kamansky has delayed his retirement. At a prior meeting, the commissioners had accepted Kamansky’s retirement effective Aug. 31. That prior motion was rescinded and he will now work up until Oct. 29.
LuAnn Myers, who held the clerk/typist position in the county planning office, was hired as a real estate tax clerk in the assessment office, effective Aug. 30.
The planning office clerk/typist position had been eliminated by the commissioners at the Aug. 11 meeting.
The commissioners also accepted the resignation of Robert Fearnley from the position of program specialist in Soil Conservation. Fearnley was hired as the department’s Water Resource Coordinator at the Aug. 11 meeting.
