Warriors split on field

The Elk Lake field hockey team faced a 3-0 shutout from Pittston on the road Thursday, took a 3-0 victory at GAR on Tuesday after it faced a 3-0 loss from Pittston at home on Tuesday evening.

On Thursday, Elk Lake battled Pittston who scored three first half goals to top the Warriors, who held the Patriots scoreless in the second half.

The Warriors took eight shots on goal with eight corners while goalie Luke Myers had five saves.

Facing GAR, CJ Bevan knocked in a goal with an assist from Dylan Simmons at 18:56 to put the Warriors on the board before halftime.

After the half, Simmons found the cage, unassisted, at 19:25, and again with :52 on the clock to pace the Warriors.

Elk Lake had seven shots on goal and nine corners while goalie Myers had seven saves.  

On Tuesday, the Warriors saw Pittston roll in three goals in the first period, before Elk Lake held them scoreless throughout the second half.

Elk Lake took seven shots on goal with seven corners as Myers picked up six saves.
