Hotel expansion project completed
The 24 room expansion project at Holiday Inn Express, New Milford, has been completed, increasing the hotel’s total room count to 92.
At its Oct. 26 meeting, the Susquehanna County Planning Commission gave its final approval to the project.
The hotel expansion project was also discussed at the Oct. 28 Susquehanna County Economic Development Board meeting.
The project is being partially funded through recovery zone bonds. Countywide economic development manager Brian Driscoll said paperwork for those funds is being finalized and should be in place by the end of the year.
Driscoll also said there is about $1 million left in Susquehanna County’s recovery zone bond allocation from the state. He warned that if those funds were not utilized by the end of the year, the monies would go back to the state and would then be available only through a state-wide competitive process.
The planning commission also gave conditional, preliminary approval to Stone Energy for a compressor station project in Rush Twp.
Planning Director Bob Templeton said the planning commission still needed a driveway permit from the township supervisors.
Plans for the station call for two compressor buildings and a water tank farm.
The commission is working on adding an amendment to the county subdivision ordinance which addresses compressor stations and water treatment facilities. The commission hopes to have the wording to ordinance amendment finalize and ready for adoption by the end of the year.
