Warrior girls top Meyers, dunked by Abington

Elk Lake’s girls’ swimming team took a 104-85 victory at Meyers on Friday (Jan. 14) while the boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams faced a pair of losses at Abington Heights on Tuesday (Jan. 11) evening.

Facing Meyers, Elk Lake’s girls had first place finishes from Abby Zdancewicz in the 200 IM at 2:34.68 and 500 free at 5:53.30, Chelsea Karabin in the 50 free at 27.13, Emmie Gibson in the 100 free at 1:05.70, the 200 free relay team of Rina Nikolaidis, Gibson, Zdancewicz and Karabin at 1:53.05, Nikolaidis in the 100 back at 1:20.58 and the 400 free relay team of Nikolaidis, Gibson, Zdancewicz and Karabin at 4:32.10.

Seconds were recorded by the 200 medley relay team, Gibson (200 free), Nikolaidis (50 free), Heather Wimmer (diving), Rachel Grosvenor (100 fly), Karabin (100 breast) and the 400 free relay team.

Thirds came from Grosvenor (200 free), Anna Hamernick (100 free and 100 back), Wimmer (500 free) and the 200 free relay team.

Against Abington, the Warrior boys took a 117-65 loss, while Elk Lake’s girls were handed a 120-66 loss from the Comets.

Elk Lake’s boys were led by Adam Phillips who had two individual first place finishes and was a part of a pair of winning relay teams while Zdancewicz paced the girls with wins in the 200IM and 500 free.

On the boys’ side, first place finishes came from Adam Phillips in the 100 breast at 1:03.90 and 200 IM at 2:09.67, Cody Mowry in the 50 free at 25.63, the 200 free relay team of Mowry, Manzek, Kreig and Phillips in 1:42.15 and the 400 free relay team of Mowry, Manzek, Grosvenor and Phillips in 2:57.35.

Second place finishes were turned in by Krieg (100 free) and Mowry (100 back)

Thirds came from Krieg (50 free).

On the girls’ side, first place finishes came from Zdancewicz in the 200 IM at 2:32.86 and 500 free at 5:57.25 and Karabin in the 100 free at 1:01.59.

Seconds came from Karabin (50 free), Wimmer (diving) and the 200 free relay team.

Thirds were turned in by Rachel Grosvenor (100 fly), Rina Nikolaidis (100 back) and the 400 free relay team.
