Montrose tennis goes 1-2 on week

The Montrose Area girls’ tennis team faced a 5-0 loss at Scranton Prep on Monday, took a 4-1 win over Western Wayne at home on Friday after it facing a 3-2 loss in its first league match of the season against Mid Valley on Tuesday.

Against Scranton Prep in singles, Emily Walsh (SP) over Megan Hinds, 6-0, 6-1; Kendra Croker (SP) over Gracee Rose Bulger, 6-0, 6-0; Grace Reilly (SP) over Anna Ruseski, 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, Annie Tressler-Mara Silvon (SP) over Ceara Hartman-Jen Ruseski, 6-4, 6-2; Elizabeth Hyers-Jessica Vough over Holly Andre-Lizzy Escobar, 6-2, 6-2.

FacingWestern Waynein singles, Lianna O’Hora (WW) over Bulger, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2; Hinds (M) over Emily Funk, 6-0, 6-0; and Ruseski (M) over Sarah Gardner, 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles, Hartman-Jen Reed (M) over Erica Sullivan-Olivia Funk, 6-0, 6-1; Andre-Escobar (M) over Kellyn Kemmerer-Kayla Evans, 6-0, 6-0.

On Tuesday in singles, Montrose’s Bugler defeated Marisa Troiani, 6-2, 6-1; Meteor Hinds topped Julia May, 7-5, 6-2; and Mid Valley’s Vicki Mazza bounced Harman, 6-0, 6-4.

In doubles, Mid Valley’s Delaney Reynolds and Jessie Brudnicki defeated Reed and Ruseski, 6-4, 6-2; and Maria Berg and Taylir Evans beat Andre and Escobar, 6-3, 6-2.
