EL girls fourth at PIAA Invitational

Elk Lake’s girls’ cross country team took fourth place at the fifth annual PIAA Foundation Invitational in Hershey on Saturday.

The Lady Warriors placed fourth with 133 points behind first place finisher Quaker Valley with 95. ElkLakewas anchored by a 12th place overall finish from freshman Jenny VanEtten at20:58.

First place overall in the girls’ race with Marissa Durako of Holy Redeemer at19:43.

Also finishing for the Lady Warriors were Maria Trowbridge in 18th at21:14, Kirsten Hollister in 20th at21:26, Lainey Bedell in 39th at22:14, Abby Zdancewicz in 44th at22:29, Emily Williams in 57th at23:01and Cassy Salsman in 104th at 24:48.

Blue Ridge’s girls’ team also competed with freshman Lauren Whitney topping for the Raiders with a 45th place overall finish at22:20.

Raider Casey Purdum took 57th at22:52, while Katie Cramer finished in 174th at 27:16 and Charlotte Hall took 181st at 27:55.

On the boys’ side, Elk Lake’s Luke Jones took fourth place overall at16:52 to lead the Warrior boys.

The Elk Lake boys took 21st overall as a team. Will Bennett was the second Warrior boy to cross the finish line at 13th in the pack at17:33.

Blue Ridge’s boys took 17th overall as a team with 438 points while Jake Hinkley topped the Raider pack with a time of18:26.

Also finishing for Elk Lake’s boys were Jason Vermeulen in 107th at19:39, Matt Horvath in 187th at21:15, Cooper Cole in 199th at21:34, Brandon Roman in 218th at21:56and Zach Moon in 249th at22:46.

Also finishing for the Raider boys were Mike Robbs in 54th at18:36, Chris Carlsen in 74th at19:01, TJ Loomis in 98th at19:24, Patrick Cramer in 167th at20:39, George Ward in 175th at21:00and Ed Gorick in 205th at21:41.
