EL girls win XC team title

The Elk Lake girls’ cross country team took its third consecutive Lackawanna League team title with wins over Riverside and Dunmore at Blue Ridge on Tuesday.

Elk Lake’s Maria Trowbridge, Jenny VanEtten, Kirsten Holliser and Lainey Bedell swept the top four places to lead the team to an undefeated season at 22-0.

Trowbridge took first place at19:06, with VanEtten, Hollister and Bedell all coming across within 24 seconds of her.

Montrose Area’s girls also took a pair of victories overRiversideandDunmoreas the Lady meteors were led by a fifth place finish from Sam Bennici at19:46, followed by Allison Lewis in seventh at20:25.

Blue Ridge’s girls took a pair of losses as the team was led by a ninth place finish from Casey Perdum at20:38.

On the boys’ side,Blue Ridge and Elk Lake’s boys both swept as Warrior Luke Jones took first place overall at15:54with Will Bennett taking second place.

Blue Ridge’s Jake Hinkley finished in third overall at16:24with teammate Mike Robbs coming in sixth at17:02.

The Montrose boys split with a win overRiversidewhile losing toDunmore. The team was paced by an 11th place finish from Will Ferril at17:47.

Mountain View, Susquehanna

TheMountain Viewand Susquehanna cross country teams traveled to Lackawanna Trail on Tuesday where both were swept byDelawareValleyand Wallenpaupack.

On the boys’ side,Mountain Viewlost 15-50 to both teams while the girls’ team was led by Kelly Purdy in 10th place at23:23as the Lady Eagles took a pair of 15-50 losses.

Susquehanna’s boys lost 15-49 to Wallenpaupack and 21-38 toDelawareValleyas Brandon Soden took 11th overall with a time of19:03. On the girls’ side, the Lady Sabers lost 15-50 to both teams as Michaela Hargett placed 11th with a time of23:27.

Forest City

ForestCity’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams hosted a meet on Tuesday where both teams were handed 15-50 losses by Scranton Prep and Holy Cross.

The story was the same in junior high action as both Forester teams took a pair of losses on Tuesday.
