Lady Eagles claim Division II championship

Mountain View’s Lady Eagle soccer team picked up a 10-0 victory atDunmoreon Tuesday to claim the Lackawanna League Division II title.

Alex Taylor had four goals and two assists to leadMountain Viewwhile Jenny Molenko added three goals and two assists.

Megan Getz chipped in with a goal and an assist while Makenna Whitaker and Stephanie Virbitsky each had goals. Sarah Pulice added three assists in the game.

Mountain Viewhad 20 shots on goal and six corners while goalie Caity Tague had two saves.

Also last week,Mountain Viewtook a 5-1 win over Holy Cross atPoloniaParkon Friday to remain unbeaten at 12-0 on the season.

Molenko had three goals and an assist and Megan Getz added two goals asMountain Viewsoared.

The Eagles had 18 shots on goal and 12 corners while Tague had eight saves.

Forest City

TheForestCitygirls’ soccer team grabbed a 5-1 victory overCarbondaleon the road Thursday to improve to 10-2 on the season.

Meagan Goben had two goals andForestCityscored four times in the second half with additional goals from Carly Erdmann, Taylor-Ray Tammero and Kylie Borick to take the win.

The Foresters took 10 shots on goal and had 10 corners as they downedCarbondale. Goalie Kaylie Gigliotti notched three saves on the day.


Montrose Area’s girls’ soccer team grabbed a 5-0 victory at Mid Valley on Thursday and a 1-0 victory at home over Holy Cross on Tuesday afternoon.

At Mid Valley, Lindsey Gregory scored two goals as Montrose won the rain shortened game.

Katie Groover, Hannah Eick and Megan Gilhool all had goals before halftime as the game was called one minute into the second half.

Montrose took 12 shots on goal and had eight corners.

Against Holy Cross, Sarah Lundy posted the Meteors’ only goal as she knocked one in unassisted with10:48remaining in the first half.

The Meteors took 18 shots on goal with eight corner kicks while goalie Anna Churco chipped in with seven saves.

Montrose is now 8-4 on the season.
