Teen faces charges in pharmacy heist


ALawtonteen faces charges in Montrose District Court for allegedly stealing drugs from the Montrose Pharmacy in an Oct. 26 burglary.

Charges were filed against Derek Stang, 19, by Montrose Police Sgt. John Walker for felony burglary and criminal trespass, along with misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property, theft and drug charges, including a charge for anabolic steroid possession.

Stang, Benjamin Ball, 23, Meshoppen, Ashley Hemenway, 20, Montrose, and a 17-year-old juvenile male have also been accused in connection with the Oct. 25 break in at aSullivanCountypharmacy.

Susquehanna County Detective William Strong interviewed the 17-year-old suspect on Nov. 1 regarding that burglary which led police to Stang.

According to police reports, Stang in a Nov. 11 interview, admitted to Strong and police that he was not only involved in theSullivanCountyincident but also in the burglary of the Montrose and Wyalusing pharmacies.

Stang, according to police reports, also named his accomplices in the incidents.

A preliminary hearing for Stang in the Montrose incident has not yet been set.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 13 inSullivanCountyin connection to the Oct. 25 burglary.
