Taxidermist charged with assault

A  Lenox Twp. taxidermist faces assault charges after a dispute with a client over a trophy mount turned physical.

William Jones, 46, Nicholson, was charged by Tpr. Alan Deutsch with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault and one count of recklessly endangering another person in connection with the Nov. 15 incident.

According to police, Joseph Gana of Little Meadows entered into an agreement with Jones, of the Redneck Taxidermy Shop, in 2008 to mount a trophy bear.

Police said Gana went to the shop, wanted the bear returned and the two men became involved in a verbal dispute.

According to police, Jones brandished a rifle and struck Gana with the muzzle end of the gun.

Gana then left the shop, according to police, but was later treated for fractured ribs and an injury to his lungs.

Jones was arraigned Dec. 12 in District Court, Clifford, and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 3, 2012.
