Locals compete at Tunkhannock tournament

A pair of local schools competed at Tunkhannock Area’s season-opening volleyball tournament on Saturday with both Susquehanna andForestCitymissing the playoffs.

The Foresters and Sabers each battled through pool play in Pool B with the Foresters coming out with a 2-6 record, while the Sabers posted an 0-9 mark on the day.

Holy Redeemer was the tournament champion, finishing pool play with an 8-1 record and going on to defeatWestern Waynein the semifinals and Tunkhannock in the finals.

Pool Play Standings

Pool A: 1-Tunkhannock (7-1), 2-WesternWayne(4-4), 3-Dallas (4-4), 4-Delaware Valley (3-5), 5-Forest City (2-6).

Pool B: 1-Holy Redeemer (8-1), 2-Lake-Lehman (6-3), 3-Lackawanna Trail (4-5), 4-Susquehanna (0-9).

Adams CO� i�k `a�the top finishing driver new to the division at Penn Can Speedway in 2012. This award is open to any driver that has not competed regularly in the modified division at Penn Can Speedway in any previous race season. The staff has also been working on programs for the other divisions as well. A special five race mini-series for the street stocks has been planned for 2012 sponsored by Trackside Products.


The purse in the street stock division has also been revamped and a major increase in the end of the year point fund has also been secured with the signing of S&W Awards as a class sponsor for the 2012 season. Many more new and exciting happenings will be announced in the near future.

Once again this season Penn Can Speedway has scheduled test and tune sessions for any division competing at the speedway in 2012. The dates of these test in tune sessions are Friday April 6th, Friday April 13th, and Sunday April 15th. The gates for the Friday sessions will open at5:30 p.m.with testing scheduled at6:30 p.m.The Sunday session will have gates opening at1 p.m.with testing at2 p.m.
