County hires caseworker
BY STACI WILSON
The Susquehanna County Commissioners hired Katelyn Briggs, New Milford, at the April 25 business meeting, as a caseworker in the Children & Youth department, per the recommendation of director Susan Adamec.
The commissioners also signed two agreements for services provided by programs utilized by Children & Youth.
Matt DeMann was terminated from his position in 911, effective April 13, per the recommendation of director Art Donato.
In prior meetings, Bruce Paskoff, ofForestLake, has stated he would like public comment included in the meeting minutes with the commissioners opting to include only “official testimony” in the minutes.
During public comment, Paskoff asked the commissioners to define “official testimony.”
Commissioner Alan Hall said, “I think we’ve beat it to death. I’m not going any further.”
Commissioner Michael Giangrieco said he agreed with Hall.
It was also brought to the attention of the commissioners that the recent county-adopted Fair Housing resolution may not be in conformity with current federal law.
The commissioners said they would provide a copy of the current law to the county solicitor and to the solicitor for the Susquehanna County Housing and Redevelopment Authority which oversees the housing programs.
