Senior Legion teams gearing up for summer


The boys of summer will be back at it again in the coming weeks as high school baseball seasons end and American Legion seasons begin.

ElkLakeplayers will compete for the Montrose Senior Legion team, while Lackawanna Trail players will compete withFMSSenior Legion in District 15.

Montrose Senior Legion

The Montrose Senior Legion team coached by Dan Hackett, and assisted by Harry Ehrie looks to hit the diamond for a solid season.

Montrose plays its home games at theMontroseHigh Schoolbaseball field on weekdays at5:30 p.m.and on weekends at12 p.m.

FMS Senior Legion

TheFMSSenior Legion, featuring players from Susquehanna,ForestCityandMountain Viewwill be under the direction of coach Vic Rosa.

Last year’s coach, Ryan McAndrew, who led the team to regional playoffs, will serve as the team administrator this season and said they should “be competitive and fight for a district title like last season.”

FMSwill not field a Junior Legion team this summer, according to McAndrew.

The team is comprised of Steve Miller, Kyle Arnold, Vic Rosa, Peter Murazzi, Dalton Mecke, Mason Mecke, Dustin Compton, Thor Banks, Jimmy O’Brien, Dylan Thomas, Colby Thomas, Brandon Hawm, Chris White, Nate Goodenough, Owen Flannery, Mike Wakalowski, BJ Beemen and Matt Heller.

Montrose Junior Legion

The Montrose Junior Legion ball team started its new season and is being coached by Dan Myers.

Montrose’s junior legion team accepts players from the Montrose,ElkLakeandBlue Ridgeschool districts.

Their home games are played atMontroseHigh School. All games are at5:30 p.m.unless on Sunday (1 p.m.).
