Warriors fall in first round

ElkLake’s baseball team took a 4-3 loss to Holy Cross inWilkes-Barreon Tuesday in the first round of District II Class AA playoff action.

ElkLakescored three runs in the third to hold a 3-0 lead over the Crusaders before Holy Cross tacked on a pair of runs to make it 3-2 in the fifth.

The Warriors held the lead until the bottom of the seventh when Holy Cross’ James Wetter hit a walk-off two-run single.

ElkLake’s Harold Wehler belted a solo home run while Adam Phillips had a double and two RBIs for the Warriors.

Nick Dudock was the losing pitcher giving up nine hits, four runs and four walks while striking out 11 in six innings. He also had a double and scored a run on offense.

ElkLakefinishes the season with a 6-9 record.
