Forest City graduating seniors ready for future

For Alesha Miller, walking through the doors of Forest City Regional High School was an everyday challenge to her for the first year and a half.

But after leaving her previous school due to being bullied and ridiculed, she said she found family within her small graduating class.

Alesha joined her fellow seniors Friday at the school’s auditorium for the school’s 114th commencement ceremony. Before each of the 68 students were handed their diplomas in recognition of their accomplishments, they left the stage to hand their loved ones a single flower to show their appreciation.

Alesha wasn’t the only student who saw her graduating class as an extension of family. Though he is excited for his future, Jason Doerwald will miss the “tightknit community” that Forest City High School has become to him.

Jason aid graduating is frightening because of going out to the real world, but he is ready to pursue a career in culinary arts.

Valedictorian Courtney Andrews shared her disbelief when she realized how much she changed during her four years of high school. She also told her classmates to be excited for the new memories and new friends that will be made. “We’ve become more than just friends that see each other in the hall each day,” Courtney said. “We have become a family and no matter what happens, your family is always there for you.”
