FMS blanks Honesdale in doubleheader
The FMS Generals Senior American Legion baseball team won a pair of games at home against Honesdale on Saturday, 6-5 and 20-6.
In the opener, Mike Wakalowski singled home Kyle Arnold with the winning run in the seventh inning to give the Generals the win.
Wakalowski finished with four hits, including a double and two RBIs.
FMS took the early lead with a pair of runs in the second and one more in the third to lead 3-0 until the top of the fifth when Honesdale scored a pair to make it 3-2.
Then, in the top of the seventh, Honesdale took a 5-3 lead with three runs. However, FMS got the job done with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Pete Murazzi took the pitching victory giving up five hits, two runs and four walks while striking out eight in five innings.
In the nightcap, Vic Rosa went three-for-four with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Generals.
FMS opened big with nine runs in the first inning, and scored another run in the second while Honesdale scored two in the second and one in the third to make it a 10-3 game.
FMS would then score seven more runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to hold a 20-3 lead. And despite three runs from Honesdale in the seventh, FMS took the victory.
Thor Banks doubled and scored a run while Wakalowski and Arnold each had a pair of singles and an RBI.
Wakalowski was the winning pitcher giving up five hits, three runs and two walks while striking out five in six innings.
