Woofstock successful despite rain
BY STACI WILSON
Shortly after Woofstock started, a storm system of heavy rains and high winds blew throughSaltSpringsState Parkon Saturday.
But by early afternoon the sun shone brightly on the ‘Peace, Love, Drool’ event commemorating the first anniversary ofTrueFriendsAnimalWelfareCenter, Montrose.
The pet-friendly Woofstock welcomed dogs and dog lovers with treats for both available – from all-natural canine treats to slow-cooked brisket for their human companions.
Vendors were also on-hand lending support to the no-kill shelter’s fundraising effort; and basket raffles were offered up – many featuring pet items.
Like the festival’s namesake, music was featured at Woofstock with area bands performing throughout the event in the Salt Springs pavilion.
True Friends is the only local non-kill animal shelter currently run by a dedicated team of volunteers. The adoption center is completely funded by donations.
