Grosvenor named Fair Queen

Rachael Grosvenor of Brooklyn was crowned the 2012 Harford Fair Queen as one of the largest crowds ever showed up at the Harford Fair shade pavilion on Monday evening for the 21st annual crowning.
Erica Reeves of Montrose was named alternate queen. Members of the court were Laura Moser of Harford and Kacie Chesnick of Thompson.
Daisy Matulevich, the 2011 Fair Queen gave her farewell speech and had the honor of crowning the 2012 Harford Fair Queen. The Queen Coordinators, known as the “Queen Mums,” presented Daisy with an album of photos covering her year as Queen and the traditional fair blanket.
Ed Price of the Pennsylvania Trappers Association presented the new Queen with a monetary gift. The Trappers Association along with Ellen Fuhrey (hair); Craige’s Photique (photos); Bloom Brothers (flowers) and Stitches From Above (T-shirts) were all thanked for their contributions to this annual event.
When the contestants were asked to speak on “why you should come to my fair,” the reasons were; the opportunity to renew old friendships; to enjoy the many events, the entertainment and the great food. The four young ladies also stressed the real reason for the fair, agriculture.
Judges for the 2012 Queen Contest were: Stacy Ebersole Bruker ofNewport, who is membership director for the Pennsylvania State Grange; Lisa Wickhan a businesswoman fromManilius,N.Y.; and Michael Gallacher, an attorney fromMoscow.
Former Fair Queens seen at the Monday evening crowning were: April Beeman Metwalli, the first Harford Fair Queen (1992); Nicole Chidester Zaleski (1998); Katie Cross Ezdebski (1999); Erica Lopatofsky Kryst (2000); Heather Fluck Winn (2001); Lisa Lopatofsky Shaeffer (2003); Amanda Miner (2006); and Andrea Beeman (2010).
