Lady Eagles top Blue Ridge, Elk Lake

The Mountain View girls’ volleyball team grabbed a 3-0 win overBlue Ridgeon the road Thursday and a 3-2 victory overElkLakeat home on Tuesday evening.

FacingBlue Ridge, the Eagles won 25-21, 26-24 and 25-22 to seal the victory.

Ashley Mesach had nine kills and Taylor Nally had 10 aces to leadMountain Viewwhile Sarah Nichols added five aces and four digs for the Eagles.

Katherine Kempa had two kills and eight assists forBlue Ridgewhile Chloe Randle had three aces, two digs and one kill and Christine Carlsen had five aces, eight digs and three kills.

On Tuesday, the Eagles took a 26-24 win in the first set beforeElkLakebattled back to tie things up with a 25-23 win in the second.

The Warriors then took a 2-1 lead with a 25-18 win in the third set. However, a 27-25 win in the fourth and a 15-13 win in the fifth sealed a victory forMountain View.

Nally had five aces, 11 assists and seven kills and Nichols had six kills and seven digs to leadMountain View.

Kerri Jarnagin added nine assists and four kills for the winners, while Rebecca Tiffany had four aces.


The Susquehanna girls’ volleyball team took a 3-2 in atElkLakeon Thursday after a 3-0 win over Montrose at home on Tuesday.

AgainstElkLake, the Warriors took a 27-25 win in the first set before Susquehanna evened it up at 1-1 with a 25-23 win in the second.

The Warriors then came back to take a 2-1 lead with a 25-22 win in the third set. However, Susquehanna evened up the score at 2-2 with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.

Susquehanna then put away the victory with a 15-13 win in the final set.

Danielle Barnes had eight kills and 20 digs, Sarah Serfilippi had nine service points and five blocks, and Alexis Roe had eight kills, six digs and five blocks to lead Susquehanna.

ForElkLake, Kelsey Caines had 15 kills and nine blocks, Kati VanEtten had 23 assists and 14 service points, and Carly Bennett had 12 kills, 12 digs and nine blocks.

On Tuesday, the Sabers beat Montrose in three straight sets, 25-18, 25-18, 2-19 to secure the win.

Danielle Barnes had 13 points, three kills and nine digs and Nicole Barnes had 11 points, nine assists, three kills and five digs to lead the Sabers.

Emily Carmody had 12 digs while Alexis Roe had seven points, three kills, two digs and one block to chip in for Susquehanna.


The Montrose Area girls’ volleyball team grabbed a 3-2 victory overForestCityat home on Thursday evening.

The Meteors won 25-22, 17-25, 25-23 and 25-15 to take the victory.

Emily Swingle had seven kills and two digs, Lacey Nelly added seven assists, five aces, two kills and two digs and Miranda Dunne had four digs, four aces and eight assists.

ForestCitywas led by Franny Stratford, who had 14 digs, six assists and six aces. Courtney Daniels contributed seven kills and three blocks and Samantha Kuriger had five kills and 12 assists.

Blue Ridge’s girls’ volleyball team was handed a 3-0 loss fromDunmoreon the road on Tuesday evening.

Blue Ridgelost the first set 25-8, before falling 25-12 in the second and 25-7 in the third to take the loss.

Allison Coller had three digs and an ace for Blue Ridge.
