Lady Warriors win PIAA Invitational

Elk Lake placed its seven runners in the top 39 Saturday to win the team title in the Girls White A division at the PIAA Foundation Invitational on the Hershey Parkview Course.

Jenny VanEtten led the way for the Lady Warriors, placing second in 20 minutes, 24 seconds. That was five seconds behind race winner Erika Huffman of Wyalusing.

Kenzie Jones was fourth in 20:47 for Elk Lake. Elizabeth Trowbridge finished 12th in 21:18,

Lainey Bedell placed 14th in 21:39 and Kirsten Hollister took 22nd in 22:29. Kellie Grosvenor (23:46, 37th) and Cassy Salsman (24:05, 39th) rounded things out for the Lady Warriors.

Montrose placed second in the team standings with 107 points. Samantha Bennici led the Lady Meteors, finishing eighth in 21:10. Allison Lewis was 19th in 22:08, Courtney Harding 29th in 22:56 and Emma Washo 30th

ELIZABETH TROWBRIDGE

in 23:00.

Susquehanna was seventh with 220 points. Ivy Christensen (22:12, 20th) and Mikayla Hargett (22:38, 25th) led the Lady Sabers.

Also, Casey Purdum from Blue Ridge finished 26th in 22:39.

Williams was first in 16:33, Curt Jewett second in 16:40 – en route to team title with 73 points.

Elk Lake was sixth in the team standings with 166 points.

Coming in behind Jones in the boys’ race was sophomore Eddie Cumens, who finished 28th in 18:44.

placed 30th at 18:49, followed by sophomore Hunter Bedell in 36th at 19:02.

Junior Brandon Roman finished 69th at 20:10, ahead of senior Matt Horvath in 75th at 20:23 and senior Seth Carney in 77th at 20:30.

Blue Ridge was 12th with 300 points. Jake Hinkley led the Raiders, finishing 11th in 17:45.

Brandon Soden’s 24th-place effort in 18:29 helped Susquehanna finish 18th with 456 points.
