District 8 BPW Director makes official visit

Dist. 8 Business and Professional Women’s Club assistant director Judy Ann Murphy paid an official visit to the Nellie Jane DeWitt BPW club, Susquehanna, on Sept. 27.

The meeting, held at Bill’s Hilltop, was the first meeting for the newly elected president Colleen Wilkes.

When Murphy, a member of the Wayne County BPW, was introduced she encouraged the members to be involved in District projects.

The theme for the club year is, “Go With the Team—Teamwork Makes the Goal” and Wilkes used this as her welcome. Following the prayer, vice-president Linda Bedford led the Collect and Pledge. District 8 representatives recognized were: Lori Hubal, Alice Deutsch, and Mary Mushala.

Hubal was program chairman for the initial meeting of the new club year and brought to the members attention the advantages of belonging to the BPW Foundation. According to Hubal, when the BPW was restructured Foundation which pushes for laws that pertain to women’s issues, programs for women entering the workforce and scholarships for women.

The club will sponsor a Spa Day at the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center, on Oct. 13, 8 a.m.-noon. Reservations may be made by calling Linda Bedford at 853-3584 or emailing-lbedford@echoes.net

Oct. 21-27 is National Business Women’s Week with the next meeting being Oct. 25, and focus on ‘Woman of the Year.’
