Elk Lake boys, girls sweep Dunmore, Riverside

The Elk Lake boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed a sweep of Riverside and Dunmore in Dimock on Tuesday.

The boys’ team took a 23-38 win over Dunmore and a 15-46 win over Riverside while the girls’ team topped Riverside 15-48.

Elk Lake’s Luke Jones finished first on the boys’ side with a time of


17:21. He was followed by teammate Eddie Cummens in fifth at 18:17, Dalton Sherman in sixth at 18:29 and Hunter Bedell in seventh at 18:39.

Seth Carney finished ninth at 18:49, Brandon Roman took 11th at 19:19 and Matt Horvath finished 13th at 19:45.

On the girls’ side, Jenny VanEtten took a first place overall with a time of 20:27, while teammate Elizabeth Trowbridge took second at


20:57 and Kenzi Jones took third at 21:09.

Lainey Bedell finished fifth at 21:40, Kirsten Hollister took eighth at 22:26 and Kellie Grosvenor took 14th at 23:06.


The Montrose girls’ cross country team picked up an 18-44 win over Riverside while the boys’ team topped Riverside 25-30 and lost 19-38 to Dunmore at Elk Lake on Tuesday.


On the girls’ side, Sam Bennici placed fourth to top for the Meteors at 21:16. Allison Lewis took sixth place at 21:59, Emma Washo took 12th at 22:51, Courtney Harding placed 13th at 23:04 and Angela Russell took 15th at 23:12.

On the boys’ side, Chris Arnold took 10th place to lead the Meteors at 19:03.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge boys’ cross country team took a


win over Riverside and a loss to Dunmore, while the girls’ team lost to Riverside at Elk Lake on Tuesday.

The boys’ team took a 25-30 win over Riverside and lost 21-37 to Dunmore, while the girls’ team faced a 15-50 loss to Riverside.

Jake Hinkley led the boys’ team with a second place finish at 17:39 as Elk Lake’s Luke Jones took first.

On the girls’ side, Casey Purdum placed seventh at 22:09 as Elk Lake’s Jenny VanEtten took first. Teammate Lauren Whitney took 10th place at 22:33.


Susquehanna’s girls’ cross country team was handed an 18-42 loss to Wallenpaupack at Lakeland on Tuesday while the boys’ team faced a 26-33 loss to Delaware Valley and a 20-42 loss to ‘Paupack.

The girls’ team was paced by a fifth place finish from Ivy Christanson at 21:37, while Mikayla Hargett placed seventh at 22:03 and Alyssa Sweeney took 11th at 22:59.

On the boys’ side, Brandon Soden finished second overall at 18:05, behind Lakeland’s Mark Arzie at 17:58. Saber Justin Acone finished 12th at 19:09.

Mountain View

Mountain View’s boys’ cross country team faced a pair of losses from Delaware Valley (16-45) and Wallenpaupack (15-50) at Lakeland on Tuesday.

The Eagles didn’t place a runner in the top 15 as Lakeland’ Mark Arzie won at 17:58.
