MV girls advance in soccer playoffs
Mountain View’s girls’ soccer team picked up a 12-3 victory in Kingsley on Thursday evening over Carbondale to advance to the semifinals of the District II Class A playoffs.
Mountain View wasted no time getting on the board as Karlee Weida and Jenny Molenko each scored by the five minute mark.
Mountain View’s Deidre Congdon, Ali Virbitsky, Hannah Richner and Megan Getz each scored to hold a 6-2 lead over Carbondale by the half.
In the second half, Molenko scored twice more, while Richner, Virbitsky, Getz and Ali Showalter each found the net to give the Eagles the win.
Picking up assists for the Eagles in the victory were Whitaker with three, Virbitsky with two, and Vic Sterling, Jaye Winemiller and Cheyenne Pfahl.
Mountain View took 41 shots on goal and had three corner kicks while goalie Caity Tague had three saves.
The girls improved to 11-0-1 overall with Thursday’s victory over the Chargerettes.
The Lady Eagles will face Forest City in the Class A semifinals at a date and location yet to be determined.
