Kempa sets King’s record

While King’s College may have lost the 17th annual Mayor’s Cup game 44-32 to Wilkes University at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday, former Susquehanna Community football player Dan Kempa had a standout performance.

Kempa, a sophomore, set a King’s College school record on Saturday at wide receiver with 237 receiving yards in the contest.

He was named most valuable player for King’s as he had 10 catches, the second-highest single-game total in King’s history, and three touchdowns.

In addition to his 10 receptions, Kempa added 85 kick return yards and 17 punt return yards to amass 339 all-purpose yards in the game.

Kempa was also named Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

He finished the season with a team-high 31 catches for a Monarch-best 648 yards with four touchdowns.

Kempa also chipped in with 31 kick returns for 513 yards and one score while adding an addition 203 yards on 19 punt returns.
