Eagles take third at Rotary Tournament

The Mountain View boys’ basketball team took a 43-41 overtime victory over Forest City’s Foresters to claim third place in the Forest City Rotary Tournament on Thursday night.

Forest City came out to pace Mountain View throughout the first half, outscoring the Eagles 12-7 in the first and 11-8 in the second to hold a 23-15 lead at halftime.

However, Mountain View used a big 15-6 run in the third to close the gap, and after an 8-7 fourth the game went into overtime tied at 37 apiece.

Mountain View then paced the Foresters 6-4 in extra minutes to take the win.

Nate Goodenough made two free throws with 1.8 seconds left in overtime to give the Eagles the victory.

Mountain View was led by Nick Schermerhorn with 16 points while Breet Crowley and Dylan Bradley each scored eight.

Forest City was led by Matt Nevins with 20 points while J. Darrenkamp had eight and J. DeEsch scored four.

In the opening round, Forest City faced a loss to Western Wayne, and Mountain View took a loss against Tunkhannock.
