A Susquehanna man will spend eight to 30 years in prison for raping a child multiple times last year.

Kevin Sjogren, 48, appeared in Susquehanna County Court of Common Pleas Wednesday where he stipulated to being a sexually violent predator.

He was immediately sentenced by President Judge Kenneth Seamans for the incidents that occurred June 1-July 7, 2012 in Dimock Twp.

Sjogren entered a guilty plea to one count of rape of a child in November 2012. Other counts lodged against him, including statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault were withdrawn.

Before the judge imposed the penalty, the girl’s mother read a statement to the court.

She said, “What you did to my daughter was wrong for so many reasons. You destroyed two families – mine and yours.”

The Susquehanna County Independent does not identify the victims of sexual assault.

Sjogren apologized in court Wednesday for the hurt and the pain he had caused. The victim was not present in the courtroom.

District Attorney Jason Legg said, “This sentence will hopefully provide some measure of closure for the victim so that she can continue on the long road of emotional and spiritual recovery, as well as assure that other children are protected from this particular offender for the rest of his life.”
