Tanker careens into Hop Bottom home

State Police, Gibson are investigating a Monday, March 11 crash that sent a commercial vehicle into a home on the corner of Forest and Prospect streets.
Driver Dana Francis, 43, of Binghamton, N.Y., sustained a major injury in the crash and was transported from the scene by Geisinger Lifeflight for treatment.
The home was occupied by one person at the time of the crash, just before 9 p.m. The resident was transported to Community Medical Center, Scranton, for treatment.
Francis’ vehicle was traveling southwest on Forest St. towards Route 11.
As the vehicle approached a railroad tunnel, the driver lost control and struck the wall of the tunnel.
The truck continued traveling in a southwesterly direction where it struck a wall and then the 145 Forest St. home. The truck went through the house until it impacted a detached garage on the property.
The vehicle came to rest partially inside the garage.
