The Elk Lake softball team is looking to improve upon its 6-8 finish in Lackawanna League Division III.
The team, coached by Tony Blaisure, looks to get above the .500 mark and make a run at winning Division III.
Elk Lake returns several starters after not graduating a single senior last season.
Returning to anchor the Lady Warrior team are senior third baseman Kenzi Moon, senior catcher Sara Kwiatkowski, senior centerfielder Laura Gacha and junior shortstop Casey Tyler.
“We look to stay healthy, play good defense and get some timely hits to compete with Montrose and Trail,” Blaisure said.
Blaisure said he will look to Moon, Tyler, Kwiatkowski and Gacha to be players to watch this season on the Wrariors.
He noted that Montrose and Trail will be the teams to beat in the Warriors division, and that the Warriors will need to watch Blue Ridge.
The Elk Lake varsity softball team is comprise of seniors Kenzi Moon, Sara Kwiatkowski, Laura Gacha and Faith Kwiatkowski, juniors Casey Tyler, Paige Parkhurst and Debbie Harvey, sophomores Emily Kasson, Lindsey Dudock and Bethany Ruhf and freshman Darci Warner.
Elk Lake will get its season underway at home on Tuesday, Apr. 2, against Mountain View at 4:30 p.n.
