Family Farm robber sentenced

The man who robbed a Susquehanna Depot store on Oct. 7, 2012, was sentenced to serve three and one-half months to two years minus one day in Susquehanna County Court on Thursday.
Dylan Wade, 25, Susquehanna, demanded cash from the clerk and when she wouldn’t turn it over, he reached into the register – taking $180 in the heist.
Prior to his sentencing Wade told the court he was currently employed and was making numerous changes in his life. Restitution in the matter has already been paid.
“I realize how dumb it was,” he said. “I sincerely apologize and am doing what I can to stay on the right path.”
District Attorney Jason Legg reminded the court of the serious nature of the crime and quoted the cashier’s testimony at Wade’s preliminary hearing.
Legg said the clerk is the mother of a small child who was made afraid by Wade and didn’t know if she was going to make it home that night.
Susquehanna County Public Defender Linda LaBarbera advocated her client receive a probationary sentence because of the positive changes in his life.
Legg said, “Probation would not show the public the gravity of what was done.”
President Judge Kenneth Seamans acknowledged the serious nature of the robbery, telling Wade that historically is was – in the legal world – recognized as an offense similar in nature to sexual offenses and homicide.
“It bumps up against those,” the judge said.
He also said he had no objection to allowing work release for Wade provided the appropriate petitions were filed.
