Eagles spike Forest City
The Mountain View boys’ volleyball team took a 3-2 victory over Forest City on the road on Tuesday night in a Lackawanna League match.
The Eagles took a win in the first set, 25-15, but fell behind as Forest City won the second and third sets, 25-12 and 25-22, to make it 2-1.
However, Mountain View won the fourth set 25-16 to even the score and clinched the win with a 15-13 win in the final set.
Chad Schmidt had 20 kills, Austin Mack added 33 assists and Brandon Zentmeyer had six digs to lead the Eagles.
Dan Trach had six blocks and Lucas Laure had five kills for Mountain View.
Wayde Loomis paced the Foresters with 11 kills, one ace, seven digs and 11 points. Joey Falbo had seven kills and three blocks, Ryan Long had nine assists, four digs, two aces and 16 points and Logan McHale had seven kills, 14 assists, three digs and 17 points.
Jon-Paul Hernandez finished with three kills, two blocks, three assists, six digs and 12 points.
The Susquehanna Saber boys’ volleyball team took a 3-0 win over Blue Ridge at home on Thursday after it handed Elk Lake a 3-1 loss at home in a Lackawanna League matchup on Tuesday.
Against Blue Ridge, the Sabers won the first two sets 25-14, 25-14 and then capped the win with a 25-17 loss in the third.
Michael Frye had 32 assists, two aces and two kills and Steven Frye had 15 kills, six block and three aces to lead Susquehanna.
On Tuesday, the Sabers won the first set 25-19 to take an early 1-0 lead. Elk Lake would even the score with a 25-22 win in the second set.
However, the Sabers won the third set 25-16 and the fourth set 25-22 to clinch the victory.
Steve Frye had 14 kills, 13 blocks and five aces and Michael Frye added 28 assists and three blocks to lead the Sabers.
Kevin Bush had 28 digs, 13 points, two aces and one kill, Jonathan Felter had four kills and three aces, Cody Dibble added 30 digs and two kills and Luke Falletta had eight kills and seven blocks. Doug Bishop finished with eight kills and two blocks.
Jared Berg led Elk Lake with 12 kills, four blocks and 13 digs, Dan Noldy had six kills, five blocks, 11 digs and 12 service points and Cody Franssen added 19 assists and nine digs.
The Blue Ridge boys’ volleyball team traveled to Western Wayne on Wednesday where the Wildcats handed the Raiders a 3-0 loss in Lackawanna League action.
The Raiders lost in straight sets, 25-18, 26-14 and 25-21 to fall to 0-7 on the season.
Ian Robinson paced Blue Ridge with two digs, one block and five kills, Austin French added eight assists and two kills and Mark Oakley had one dig and three kills. Kyle Rivenburg had one dig and two kills and Jeshua DeJesse also had one dig.
The Forest City boys’ volleyball team faced a 3-0 loss from Abington Heights at home on Thursday night.
The Comets took down the Foresters in straight sets, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-21 to seal the victory.
Wayde Loomis led the Foresters with a block, six kills, three digs and seven points.
The Elk Lake boys’ volleyball team was handed a 3-0 loss from Western Wayne in Lackawanna League action at home on Thursday.
The Warriors fell behind with a 27-25 loss in the first set before suffering a 25-23 loss in the second set and a 25-19 loss in the third.
Jared Berg led the Warriors with 15 kills, six block and 13 digs.
