Ken Bondurant, chairman for the Friends of Scouting 2013 Campaign, and attorney Francis X. O’Connor stopped in Rob’s Market, Great Bend, on April 10, to thank Rob Robinson for a very generous donation of $1,000 to the 2013 campaign.

According to Bondurant, Robinson has always been a very generous donor to the scouting movement and to show their appreciation he and O’Connor presented Rob with a special thank you.

The funds raised during this drive remain in the District and assist local scouts with funding to enable them to attend camp as well as other scouting activities.

Robinson had the honor of being selected a Baden Powell Council Distinguished Citizen of the Year in 2009, not only for his involvement with the yearly scouting campaigns but for his involvement in the community.

The Baden Powell Council Distinguished Citizen Award began in Susquehanna County in 1988 and continues today with honoring Peter M. Janicelli on May 11.

Susquehanna County has enjoyed a long and rich involvement with the Baden Powell Council, Delahanna District and 2012 was a most successful year.

Some 600 boys participated in the scouting program with seven boys attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting.

With generous donations, like Rob’s, the scouting movement will look forward to a successful 2013 campaign that will expand the scouting ranks and make it possible for more boys to attend camp.
