Coroner’s office to add assistant
BY STACI WILSON
A job opening has been recreated in the county coroner’s office.
The Susquehanna County Salary Board approved the creation of an administrative assistant/deputy coroner position at the July 10 meeting. Starting salary for the post was set at $25-28,000 per year.
Job duties and employment requirements are posted on the county website.
For over one and one-half years, the coroner’s office has been without an administrative assistant. The position of secretary/deputy coroner was eliminated December 31, 2011, by the board.
As the salary board convened, Commissioner Michael Giangrieco said that he needed to abstain from the vote. “So there’s no point in me being here,” he said and exited the meeting room.
The coroner’s office position was the only item on the salary board agenda.
Audience member Bruce Paskoff questioned the reason for Giangrieco’s abstention from the discussion and vote.
Coroner Anthony Conarton said, “He’s abstained from everything else (pertaining to the coroner’s office).”
Conarton and Giangrieco are related.
