The Stone Bridge Lions Club in Susquehanna held its third annual golf tournament and pig roast on July 20, at Golden Oaks Golf Course, Windsor, N.Y.

Chairman of the event, Peter Niven said there were 26 teams signed up for the tournament with more than 225 guests for the pig roast.

Niven recently stepped down as president of the local club, handing the reins to Caitlin Torre.

The event raised more than $8,700 before expenses and the proceeds will be used to fund the various local community projects, and scholarships that have been funded annually over the years. The local club also donates money when needed for a local emergency, Niven said.

The golf tournament is one of three major fund raisers the club plans each year; a gun raffle and a pasta dinner are the other two.

Golf tournament winners: First place- Team Lake; Second place- Team Ellsworth; Third place- Team Knowles.

Other winners included: Carol Jackson, lady closest to the pin; Tim Lake, man closest to the pin; Carol Jackson, ladies’ longest drive; Vic Dubanowitz, men’s longest drive; Gordy Hover, closest to the cooler.
Lisa Kuiper was the winner of the gas grill.
