Local golf teams compete in Jackman Tournament
Montrose Area’s varsity golf team were among those who competed in the Irving Jackman Memorial Golf Tournament at Scranton Municipal Golf Course on Friday.
The Meteors had a total score of 340, led by Codi Benedict’s 83. Austin Smith finished second for the team with an 84, followed by Kory Morrison (86), Cameron Dean (87) and Bradley Wayman (87).
Forect City finished in 11th place as a team and combined for a 354.
Dylan O’Dell led the Foresters with an 80, followed by Adam Kowalewski (84), Ryan Long (93) and Mitchell Blake (970).
Mountain View finished in 17th place this year with a 389. Top scorers were Tyler Salak (80), Chad Wescott (85), Cameron Walsh (110), Jake Heller (114) and Bryan Owens (114).
Blue Ridge did not field enough members for a team score, but competed as individuals. Kasey Burdick shot a 99, Corbin French 103 and Austin French 104.
Abington Heights was the top team with a 296 for the day, led by Anthony Sebastianelli’s 67.
Elk Lake’s Cole Tyler finished in second place as a low sophomore and was the only other player to break par, posting a 1-under 71, which shaved 30 points off of his score from last year.
Cole was the only participant from Elk Lake.
The Lackawanna Trail Lions finished in 19th place as a team, shooting an even 400.
Ricky Kordish led all players with an 85, followed by John Kwiatkowski (94), Bill Lee (101) and Patrick Mason (120).
