Speed factor in crash death

Police say speed was a factor in a Saturday, Aug. 17 motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a Brackney man.

Phillip Curran, 20, died Sunday, Aug. 18, at Robert Packard Hospital, Sayre, from injuries he sustained in a wreck on Brackney Lake Rd., just north of Quaker Lake Rd., in Silver Lake Twp.

Pennsylvania State Police, Gibson, reported Curran failed to negotiate a downward right curve in the road, due to a high rate of speed. The motorcycle veered off the roadway and rolled over.

Curran was thrown from the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police.

He was transported by helicopter to the hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

Silver Lake EMS assisted at the scene. Tpr. Michael Turlip investigated.
