Feed-A-Friend kicks off with donation

The Trehab food bank received a big boost last week – coming at just the right time for the kick off the annual Feed-A-Friend Thanksgiving food drive.
Williams Companies’ Helen Humphries presented the local food bank with a $4,000 donation.
Trehab’s Edlyn Flannery said costs for last year’s program came in at about $20,000 – with the purchase of frozen turkeys as bulk of the expense.
In addition to being funded by donations, Feed-A-Friend is a community effort with area churches and school districts participating.
Lynn Senick, director of the Montrose area food bank said, “We get phenomenal support from the community.”
Part of the community support comes from the monthly Soup Nights held at the South Montrose Community Church.
Soup Night organizer Chris Smith also arrived at the food bank Wednesday morning with a donation of cash and food.
Humphreys said, “Williams has seen the tremendous support the community offers to the food bank because people realize there is a need. We’re glad for the opportunity to help the food bank meet that need,”
