Forest City soccer nets another milestone
Senior Meagan Gobin became Forest City’s all-time leading scorer Wednesday with her 62nd career goal in the 16th minute against Carbondale to put her ahead of current Lakeland soccer coach Amanda Vitzakovitch, who held the previous record at 61 career goals.
Gobin also added two more goals and an assist as the Lady Foresters went on to blank Carbondale 8-0.
Jamie Walsh chipped in two goals and two assists Cassandra Bendyk added three assists for an offense that took 29 shots. Amanda Ogozaly also had 12 saves for Forest City, who improved to 2-4 on the season.
The Lady Foresters also netted a 6-0 shutout at Dunmore Wednesday, led by two goals and one assist each for Bendyk and Mackenzie Keller.
The Lady Eagles cruised to a 16-0 win over Mid Valley Tuesday and a 5-0 win over Lakeland Thursday to improve to 7-0 on the season.
Hannah Richner had two goals and two assists to lead Mt. View over the Lady Chiefs. Jenny Molenko also chipped in with two goals while Jaye Winemiller had 8 saves for the Lady Eagles.
Molenko scored three goals against Mid Valley, including the 100th of her career, and Megan Getz also added three goals in the win.
Ten girls had at least one score and the Lady Eagles defense only allowed one shot on goal.
The Lady Meteors shutout Mid Valley 4-0 Thursday and the Dunmore Bucks, 6-0, at home Tuesday.
Emma Griffiths and Hanna Dieck each had two goals and one assist for the Lady Meteors against Mid Valley.
Against Dunmore, Dieck also had two goals and an assist and Meghan Gilhool and Myra Lattimore each had a goal and assist for Montrose, who improved to 6-1.
The Elk Lake girls’ soccer team battled but came up short in a 2-1 home loss to Holy Cross Tuesday.
Sophomore Shelby Valvano scored the lone goal for the Lady Warriors off an assist from senior Katelin Graves.
