Mt. View girls’ top Lady Meteors in 1-0 thriller
In their first game this season when Jenny Molenko did not score a goal, the Lady Eagles needed someone else to step up in their game against Montrose, whose only loss came when the teams battled in the first game of the year.
Mountain View found the answer in the 57th minute when Karlee Weida scored the game’s only goal to give the Lady Eagles the 1-0 win over the Lady Meteors Wednesday.
Molenko provided the assist to Weida after controlling a cross to set up the shot from 12-yards out for the Lady Eagles, who remain undefeated at 9-0.
In a battle of the defenses, Jaye Winemiller had five saves for Mountain View, who hasn’t allowed a goal in five games. Anna Churcho had ten saves for Montrose, who are now 6-2 this season.
The Lady Warriors shutout Dunmore 2-0 at home Wednesday for their second win of the season.
Seniors Katelin Graves and Olivia Laudeman each recorded a goal for Elk Lake, while freshman goalie Lydia Hunsinger recorded her first-career shutout.
Elk Lake improved to 2-4 on the year with the win.
