Mt. View School District has hired Christine A. Kelly as elementary school principal. Her official start day was Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Kelly is a native of Susquehanna County, and a 1996 graduate of Blue Ridge High School. She currently lives in Olyphant with her husband and their 5-year-old daughter.

Kelly is a graduate of Penn State University, with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in English as a Second Language. She earned a degree in school administration at Widener University.

Her teaching experience includes working as an administrator in Lackawanna County for the Pre-K Counts early learning program.

“Since I started at Mt. View, I’ve had a very welcoming reception from the school staff and the community,” Kelly says. “So far, I’m very impressed by the extra time teachers here give after hours with the students.”

She added that beyond her academic goals for the students, she will also be focusing on school safety.

Former elementary school principal Andrew Doster submitted his resignation last July 12, pending an appointment by the Towanda School District.

Doster had also served for several years as Mt. View High School principal.
