Meteors 14th at ‘AA’ districts
At the Class AA boys’ race at the District 2 Cross Country Championships at Elk Lake High School on Wednesday, the Montrose Meteors finished in 14th place as a team, and narrowly missed qualifying one of their runners to compete in states on Nov. 2.
Freshman Owen Brewer, who paced Montrose for most of the season, finished in 21st place at 17:33, narrowly missing the cut for states by nine seconds.
The Meteors finished with 343 points, behind Western Wayne in thirteenth at 279. Tunkhannock was the overall winner and district champion with 47 points.
The PIAA Class A state championship, will take place in Hershey at the Parkview Cross Country Course on Saturday, Nov. 2.
