Arson charges filed in trailer fire


Arson charges have been leveled against a Montrose woman police said was seen setting fire to her trailer and a vehicle on Sunday, Dec. 15.

Witnesses reported that Christina Bennett, 28, Montrose, set fire to an addition on the trailer as well as a disabled 1997 Ford Mustang parked in front of her residence located on Spring Valley Rd., in Bridgewater Twp.

The home sustained a moderate amount of damage, according to the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit. No injuries were reported in the blaze.

Bennett was charged by PSP Fire Marshal Steven Kaneski, with a count of felony arson – danger of death or bodily injury and arson endangering property – recklessly endangerment of inhabited buildings; as well as a misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person.

She was arraigned Dec. 19 by District Judge Jeffrey Hollister and is being held on $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Dec. 23.
