Forest City’s boys basketball team is under new leadership.
Mike Latrella has resigned from his position as head coach of the boys basketball team. He had been the coach since the 2012-13 season after spending a season as a volunteer assistant, and four years as the head coach at Johnson College.
Luke Pisarcik will be interim head coach and Bill Fedak will be the junior varsity coach, Forest City athletic director Brian Durkin said.
“We received a letter of resignation Friday afternoon for personal reasons,” Forest City principal Pete Jordan said.
Forest City’s boys basketball program has endured several changes at the head coaching position in the last six seasons.
Pisarcik, who has been a member of the staff for the past four years and the head coach of the junior varsity team for three seasons, is the seventh head coach for the team since the 2008-09 season.
The Foresters, who are 1-12, 1-5 in the division, finish the first half of the Lackawanna Division IV season today at home against Mountain View.
“We are focusing on the District 2 tournament moving forward,” said Pisarcik, a 2003 graduate of Forest City. “Our focus is on our nine-game season and to get our mind-set that we have a two-game tournament at the end of the year.
“It’s a new season and I told the kids that we are 0-0. We have to keep getting better each and every day and keep improving.”
