Chocolate and wine pair for successful event
Well over 3,000 people turned out Saturday for the 7th annual Montrose Chocolate and Wine Festival to enjoy an afternoon of chocolate, music and, of course, wine.
A dozen wineries, along with Endless Mountain Brewing, offered up tastes of their top wines and beers.
Chocolatier Leopold Schreiber demonstrated his art throughout the day, as favorite local and regional musical artists performed on the Community Stage.
Festival organizer Tom Follert said, “People loved the cupcakes, artisan breads and dips, the gourmet food including grilled cheese and wings and of course the wine. The tone of the day was set by the music. We had great live music that had people dancing in the streets all day!”
The cupcakes entered into the “Cupcake War” competition were sold off quickly with the winning entries selling out first.
Malayna Fowler took first in the cupcake competition, followed by April Fowler in second; and Kristin Morgan in third place.
The Chocolate Quilt raffle winner was Lacey Swartztrauber. The quilt was designed and crafted by Natalie Hawley.
Artisan breads and cheeses, along with other gourmet food items featured prominently at the event, as did vendors offering up their wine and chocolate wares.
Proceeds from the ticket sales return to the community with support provided to the Susquehanna County Library building fund; as well as other community projects such as the Healthy Snack program implemented last year at Lathrop Street Elementary.
