Boy lost overnight at Salt Springs

Law enforcement and emergency personnel searched Salt Springs State Park overnight Friday to Saturday for a 12-year-old boy that became separated from two older teens as they hiked the trails.

The boy was found Saturday morning, at about 7:10 a.m., unharmed, walking along a roadway near the Franklin Twp. park just before a major daylight search was set to begin in the area.

According to police, a 19-year-old Thompson male and an 18-year-old Hallstead male went hiking with the boy Friday evening when the boy became separated from them at about 8 p.m. The older teens searched for the youth for about 20 minutes before calling Pennsylvania State Police, Gibson.
Members of PSP, Gibson; Susquehanna County Emergency Management; Snake Creek and United Fire Company members, K-9 units from Broome County, N.Y., and Pennsylvania, as well as other agencies responded to the scene to search for the boy.

Multiple overlapping searches were conducted over some very rugged terrain in the coordinated effort from Friday, 11 p.m. until the boy was located Saturday morning, according to police.
